One downside to recessed lighting is that it can heat up small rooms rather quickly with standard bulbs. My wife requested some for our sons room and when we are in it for too long with the recessed lights on it gets rather hot.

One pet peeve is when someone lights their kitchen with recessed lights and there is not rhyme or reason to their placement.

Recessed LED lights do not heat up a room.

Recessed LED are great. I like them for work areas like the kitchen. It's nice to have some other sort of lighting, like natural light, if possible to remove shadows cast over the work.

I like recessed LEDs. We put them in the kitchen, baths, laundry, living/dining room, and basement.

Thanks for the recessed lighting replies guys. Now to get an estimate.

Good luck. The electrician was at our house Friday to do a rough plan. I think I'm going to go back to the architect for a lighting plan because recessed lighting seems to be one of those things that is so easy to screw up because it seems so simple.

Spent 12 hrs this weekend power washing our driveway. It was getting to the point where you could slip on moss walking down it.

12 hours? Is your driveway a mile long?

Just saved $18k by using a "flat fee" agent to buy my home. He charged a flat fee of $4500 for the transaction and I kept the rest of the agents commission. He doesn't show, inspect, view, or do anything in person which is fine because most homes have open houses now anyway. I simply found my home gave him my price he submitted it, reviewed all my documents, and I moved in. I even got $2k back for repairs from the sellers!! Gotta love flat fee agents!

Suggestions on USB outlets powerful enough to charge modern devices? The one in my house doesn't charge my iPhone.

I wish more agents had flat based fees. We had our selling agent act as out buying agent. She made a cool $20K in 1 month...

As for USB outlets, it depends on the wattage they put out. For instance, you can charge an iPad with an iPhone adapter but the 5W iPhone adapter takes a lot longer.

Good news today! I found a local drywall guy who seems reasonably priced to go over some big areas of to fix nail pops, retape, and get some high ceiling in a stairwell. I told him to get ahold of me when business slows down over the summer as we are not in a rush.
