Does Mr. Centipede wear these shoes or they just a collection, as they don't seem to have any wear? The metal sole plates seem an affection as with rotation he would not wear them much more than a couple times a year.
Anyway, a fine collection.

Like the three-piece shoe tree, full composite heels and the metal toe-plate seem to be part of the modern Japanese bespoke shoe aesthetic. I've wondered about this myself. Part of it is certainly anachronistic, an elevation of old sensible practice to dizzying new heights (just to show what the craft can do). The heels and toe-plates may also be a lot more functional in a place like Japan, where humidity can be an issue and life includes more walking (the automobile assuming a diminished place). Having spent my time among the cobblestones, I can understand the value of showing some ferocity and tenacity to the rough-edged pavement (oh so different from the soft padded life of St James and environs).
