Did you get hit with a cost of living change moving from Dallas to Massachusetts? I've heard New England is more expensive but there are some parts of Dallas that can get expensive.

Well, I got a decent pay bump, though I'd argue I'm getting underpaid for the position, compared to market rates.

I'm very conscious of the COL factor, so I'm not trying to live in Boston proper. Aiming to spend roughly the same for rent and slightly more, which would be a little under a grand a month.

I'm very good about living below my means and saving monies.

Anyone getting excited for the Alibaba IPO? Seems like even though they are huge in China, they still only represent a small chunk of the population. But an argument against that is, maybe the other part of the population cannot afford it.

It should be interesting with these Chinese IPOs though.

There's no reason it couldn't keep doing well, but I'm happy to think about cashing out here. (A fund I'm in has some exposure and may be looking at 3x or 4x.)

Yeah, AAPL was very predictable - they'll have some news this year..

Would like the (ir)rational reasons for NFLX's recent rally.
Their track record in international expansion is abysmal, neglecting the most basic market conditions in LatAm (payment, piracy consumption) and hardly showing any traction in the by far easiest European markets for their business model - Netherlands, Scandinavia and with some distance UK. Now they are set to burn loads of money in markets such as France and Germany, that are an entirely different caliber due to regulation and consumer behavior.

I've read rumors of a hardware release from AAPL and it seems to point to a Retina MB Air. The wife and I have MBA's and love the battery life even with watching movies. I would hate to see them sacrifice the best part about the MBA with a better picture when you could just get the sleek pro with a retina display.

I hope they come out with a retina MBA. It's supposed to be 12" and if they do release it I'd be surprised if they let it have less than 8 hours of battery life.

I'm just riding the tide but the tide is making me a happy camper. I'm going to need to rebalance next week but I'm very happy at the moment.
