Hello, I have a problem when it comes to suspenders and I can't seem to find a pair of suspenders that are comfortable. In essence, the problem is that I can't find a pair of suspenders that has the elastic as long as I need it to be. Most suspenders seem to have a 6 inch elastic back and I need 10 inches, so I was wondering if anyone knows any brands that have a 10-12 inch elastic back.

I have a pair that has a longer elastic strap, and I no longer use them. The reason is that the longer elastic strap allows the center patch connecting the front straps to sit too high on my back. It has the result of causing the front straps to bulge at the point where they connect to the center connector because the angle is too sharp when they go up across my shoulders. It leaves an unsightly bulge on the back of my jacket.

See I think my problem is that I need the connecting patch so sit high on my back. I have a pair with a 10 inch elastic and they are wonderful. I'm trying to stretch the elastic on some other suspenders I have, but I've been only able to get them to 8.5 inches.

Stretching them out will shorten the lifespan. I have repaired some of mine with worn out elastic. You can remove the stitching, replace the elastic, and stitch it back by hand using the same holes. On the other end, take them to your cleaner and they can machine stitch them.

Yes. It might come to that. I don't care about the elastic of the suspenders I currently have because I can't wear my trousers comfortably with them. Worse case scenario they break and I replace them with the elastic length I want. If I can't stretch them to the length I want, I will just replace the elastic anyway.

you should be able to either order a length of the webbing ( idk if it's called that ) or pilfer from another pair and replace to fit

I know @Amidé Hadelin sells suspenders (Thurston-made) that are longer for tall customers, but I don't know if the back elastic part specifically is longer...perhaps he can weigh in?

Your suspenders are uncomfortable because they are likely Y-back. Try X-back suspenders and I predict you will never go back.

There are plenty of cheap options with clips. For wearing with a suit and dress trousers, probably Albert Thurston boxcloth is the only option. They are worth it
You are correct they are Y back, but what is the reason you you think X back will alleviate the issue vs Y back?

No, I’m afraid not, our longer braces also have 6 inches of elastic in the back, despite being longer overall.

Because the vertical part of the Y runs along your spine and the leather piece at the end has a tendency to irritate near the tailbone region. The X should not touch your spine at all, the join point should be higher near the shoulder blades.
