Because I am 6’3” tall with relatively short arms.

Or, are you saying they make a 48L with shorter arms? That would be great!

If it needs to be shortened more than about 1.5 inches, I think I'd take your tailor's advice and not try to attempt it. It'll definitely ruin the construction of the jacket especially the way the sleeves and shoulder will fit.

I shortened a jacket once from the shoulder by about 1.5 inches and I thought it would be fine. It did turn out okay, but the sleeves and shoulder felt a little constricted and it just doesn't feel like the way it used to be before the alteration.

No, the 48L has even longer arms. I’m in your situation, with short arms for my frame. My tailor needs to shorten the sleeves from the shoulder and it always looks good. Ask him again, or see if another tailor can do this for you.

Good luck!

Thanks for the input, gents. I contacted the nearest Suitsupply store(three hours away) and they assure me their tailor can do a great job shortening the sleeves as much as I need.

I will make a road trip this weekend and see if they’re right.

I actually think there were a few items this season that were black. Did you try filtering on the site for black suits?
I took all the advice from this thread—filtered the site, asked customer service to find me a black suit, and finally ordered a custom black Lazio.

I’m happy, but now I need to wait “29 business days.”

I’ll post the results sometime in July!

I've had bad experiences with their in-house tailors. But each store is different. I'm interested to see how they will handle the tailoring for my MTM order. Hopefully they don't screw it up.

Anyone want a bunch of SuitSupply suit bag(the bags the come free with a suit/jacket order)? Message me!
Another thing to love about SuSu. Those bags are perfect for holding suits—in my closet or fully folded for travel. The extra pockets are a great feature, too.
