Can one stretch the toe box on an EG. Shoe fits everywhere else and going up a half size may lead to heel slip.

Any suggestions?

You might, but shoes might still be tight on you, if not your regular size. If heel slippage is only slight, it should go away after you break in the sole with a couple of wears. Which last are we talking about?

i'd second the wider width.

Or going up one half size, if not too large, can be ameliorated with using a tongue pad that will keep the heel from slipping forward.
