Well, I guess that means that me and P4 will be those two guys constantly checking their phones for score updates.

@artishard116 sent me a friendly warning about how not to ride the subway and now I feel like walking to Brooklyn. Can you even do that? In my mind, New York is sort of post-apocalyptic already. There are volcanoes in the subway and zombies aboveground.

Finally, no one has said anything about dinner. I was hoping the locals could chime in on this one - is there anything in the neighborhood that'd be easy to walk to with a big group of people without making a reservation? Any favorite Gentry spots for something simple?

You can indeed walk the Williamsburg bridge which goes from the lower east side of manhattan to (duh) Williamsburg. Watch out for zombies. And steaming garbage.

How many people are we talking? Right down the street is La Esquina, we could do outdoor taco's and margaritas?

edit - actually lets get Gentry to order a bunch of Pies from Best Pizza

Yeah that's a decent option. A Thursday night in the burg can be tough for even 2 people, let alone a group. I was also thinking Juniper which is usually pretty low-key and is BYOB, unless the hipsters have found out about that place and cause big waits there too now.

Does Juniper still have a super weird vibe inside? Last time I went it was empty and just the owner staring at me.

Wilbert one time went and was so uncomfortable he left without ordering and left a tip on the table lol

edit - we could also walk to Crown Vic and have the taco truck in the backyard

we can take a ten minute walk to greenpoint and go to capri social club for cheap drinks or my friends place beloved. i'd probably be able to reserve a bunch of space at beloved and the cocktails are sick.

Yes and no. I mean it's only weird if you make it weird, but that's part of what I like about it. It's easily one of my favorite places in Williamsburg and the chef is great to bullshit with, as is his wife or whoever the woman behind the counter usually is. It has a medium-sized backyard though and the BYOB part always helps if you want to be lazy and cheap while gorging yourself on tasty food.

As people have been mentioning, before we can go about giving options it's probably best to get a head count. There are a few places we have in mind, but if we have too many people they would quickly be taken out of the running.

Do you guys like ambient lighting and intimate settings?

Seriously.

Do we have an idea of who will be making it out?

Let us help! AHHH

Yep, if we could get people who for sure know they're going to make it to drop a simple "yes" in a reply, that'd be great. I've been unintentionally absent for some of this, but I'm excited to see everyone!

I'm sort of a lurker but I'm down from about 6:30 on (down for food too)! Just moved Tokyo > NYC as well so would be cool to meet new people.

@false and any one else really, I wouldn't sweat being a lurker or anything close to it. All are welcome. We'll be sure to let our bouncer know, just make sure you know the secret style forum handshake.

just kidding.

really though, we want to be clear that everyone can come and enjoy.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
