No, that's right, what we are looking at is the rear of the watch.

Which one? The Minute Repeater iammatt posted looks sweet, but the silver dial one is hideous IMO

. Anyway, skeletonized watches seem way too dressy for me, and I'm sure the novelty wears off quick.

I would only want one if it was a very high-end and complicated movement. I would like to be able to see the craftsmanship, but I would most likely not wear it much.

The repeater is beautiful; the silver dial one isn't hideous, IMO. A bit busy but still very neat to look at.

For some reason however when I think of a skeletonized watch I think of some James Bond villian sitting next to a fireplace in a velvet robe with a cat in his lap at some Alps chalet, wearing a skeletonized watch. Maybe that's just me.

What would you wear something like that with? It seems a bit too dressy for a dinner jacket.

We both posted the same watch; mine was in platinum, his in rose gold.

Not for me. Every skeletonized watch I've ever seen is ugly.

We need the equivalent of a skeletonized suit: transparent wool so we can see the pad stitching.

Either way, VC has, IMHO the best "˜skeletonizing' department in horology. Breguet is really damn good too, but as far as in-house* craftsmen go, VC has the best. They also have the best in-house enamel artists, which is saying a lot, since it is really a dying art.

Jon.

*horology brands will oftentimes outsource the ultra intricate finishing of a watch to an outside artisan.
