or in a different color scheme:

I like them but agree that they are flipping useless because it is hard to tell the time on most moddels. Especially skeleton complications can look very nice.

I like them.

IMO much nicer than those exposed 'heartbeat' ones you see from Zenith and the like.

I don't like them at all. The dial of a watch is the most attractive component IMO. I love a beautifully finished movement (back) but I miss the dial too much on a skeleton watch

Also, there are so many cheapo Chinese skeleton watches that I feel whatever appeal they may have had in the past is completely gone. I think there are skeleton watches in the shopping magazine on the plane now...

I personally think they are cool for the novelty of it (ie - to look at), but I would never own/wear one. I do, however, think that clear back watches are damn cool, though. Love taking it off, flipping it over and showing it to a friend. Looking inside really makes you appreciate the insane thresholds for accuracy and intricate functionality that really comprises watchmaking. Seeing through the entire face is another story, though.

Most are hideous. Some are outstanding. I think that Vacheron is peobably the most adept with this style, even if they are a bit too much for my eyes.

This minute repeater is pretty neat.

Jesus, I saw the thread title, and I half expected that the spirit of the suit threads had spread and people were taking apart their watches ...

I did that once to a vintage Longines. That was a mistake. Unsurprisingly, it was much easier to take it apart than to re-assemble it

You want me to? Unlike most people on the forum, I can take apart an ETA 2892 and put it back together...
