A question about the heels

Does the leather one have any advantage over the rubber one???um....apart from being JR brand...

The leather toplift is part of a solid heel stack. It provides a bit more stability. Because it is thin it may wear through a bit faster than the rubber "half heel." Which theoretically forces you to replace it before it gets worn to the point it is affecting the alignment of the bones in your feet. The more the heel is worn down the faster the outsole will wear out.

sad story: after living for 20 years I finally figured out that I'm actually an E!(US width)
however, most of my shoes are D, and I even have a pair of C... I didn't realise I have a serious fit problem when my shoes are crushing my small toes...

sorry about the x post but I've resisted these thus far but now

I'm going against Styleforum's hive mind and taste by choosing G&G's round GG06 last. All others are just too pointy -- there, it is said and known now. Model Harrow with burgundy lisle socks and just plain tan heavy-ish cotton slacks.

Look like there's not enough space at the insteps?

the difference is that, in high school I wore sneakers

Chowkin, if eyelets from left and right close to touch each other, the shoes will develop deep and nasty fissures below laces. Better fit is not tight.

That's probably right, although the shoes in the photo above are not laced as snuggly as they could be.

That said, I doubt that there is any correlation between how the facing come together and the creases that develop in the vamp. More likely such "deep and nasty fissures" are a function of the shoe being too big around, all over, for the foot. If a shoe is too roomy in the instep it will likely be proportionally roomy in the forepart--thus making the natural creasing more pronounced.
