I dont really think so, although I have never owned apc, I have been wearing these pretty hard for about 9 1/2 months, and would say they fade no faster than any other japanese denim I have had experience with and worn in a similar manor, and definitely slower than flat head or the old skull 6x6 texas cotton denim .

I'm kind of getting tired of the crazy stacking, and I don't have much knowledge on heavy raw denim. Can any ordinary tailor hem these with no problem?

Yeah, only difference is that you won't get the chainstitching at the hem. Your call on whether it's important to you.

I actually got sick of the stacking, too, and I just started cuffing.

They're already chainstitched? I doubt its a noticeable difference anyway.

... to others, maybe, but if you care for it [as notwithit mentioned], it will be a constant gnawing disatisfaction everytime you wear them.

You mean when the hem is cut off? That's what they do when they hem jeans; they cut off the existing hem.
