Very cool! This sounds interesting, but I as well do not have premium cable. I'm sure it will be posted online somewhere a day or two after it airs.

I've seen the ads.

I suppose the documentary demonizes the corporation and globalization, while glorifying unions, the worker, and consumers.

I've seen it and this about sums it up. It's a good doc nonetheless, the old imagery of the garment district is worth it..

The was a rally last week to save the garment district. I just don't understand why we can't create more in the states. it really makes no sense to me.

first part is correct, second not at all. america, along with most industrialized countries, consume far, far more than they can produce. the blame for globalization lies in the insatiable western appetite for possessions and technology. there's no going back from here.

why would companies pay workers in the US a fair wage when they can pay people in china a tiny fraction of it for the same work?

The American worker earns too high a wage for the American manufacturer to produce goods at a price point the American consumer is willing to pay.

Americans are victims of their own success, unfortunately.

I knew I was opening up a big can of worms when I wrote this.
It's much to layered for me to type that's for sure but I think that if we exported more and imported less we could sustain our way of living. I also think that many people in college shouldn't be there and should be learning a trade. I think learning a trade is a very good thing and paying a fair wage is just the right thing to do. Drop the greed , only a few percent reap the reward anyway.
I am not be naive this country is fucked up and needs to get back to its roots and make some quailty **** and not just in the clothing sector.
Farming, fast food, steel, lumber...etc
it can be done.

china's middle class is emerging and they soon will have problems to.
