Malle's l'eau d'hiver today.

This is the third time I've tried it, and I'm still not sure what I think of it. I like it well enough, but...maybe it's just underwhelming? Longevity seems kind of poor, and although I like the honey note I suspect I'd reach for En Passant over this 9 times out of 10. I really do like that the iris isn't too powdery, and it's an interest contrast - or concord. really, I'm not sure whether it's the former or the latter. From the description, and from what I think it should be, it seems like a scent that I'd love - and perhaps it's one that will grow on me.

I owned both at one time. En Passant I thought was stellar. L'eau d'Hiver was a notch below for me, but still very worthwhile. There are a couple of others that are close and carry a little more oomph. Apres L'ondee and Angelique.

A bright, warm sunny day today called for me to wear the very short-lived Penhaligons Ostara.

I usually wear Frederic Malle Outrageous (my go to daytime) and either FM Monsieur or Margiela’s Jazz Club for evenings.

Am a big fan of lemon based and citrus and would also thoroughly recommend Mediterraneo by Carthusia.

Shameless plug - am selling a spare bottle of FM Outrageous in the classifieds.

was that the narcisse fragrance? I liked that one in the opening hours, but found that it sort of fell off into more generic territory after 2-3 hours...but I may be mixing this up with another fragrance.

Chilly evening here. I'm wearing vintage Revillon PH. RPH is a celebration of pine. Maybe the best pine note I've smelled. Framed by oakmoss which gives some depth and green coloring, lavender, herbs and lemon. So by category its a chypre I guess, but the pine is the star.

Revillon PH puts me in mind of other modern scents I like: Zagorsk, crisp, stone cold and piney incense; ELDO Eloge du Traitre, another piney star, mixed with artemisia; and Memoir Man, green incense and artemisia. I usually don't start wearing these scents until the holidays, they scream Winter to me. But I'm going to pull them out of the closet this weekend. I've got a pine itch that needs scratching.

Yeah, it’s the narcissus fragrance - I personally love the evolution.

Today was in the 80s, so I wore Voyage d’Hermes Parfum.

I'm wearing Acteur today. It's a spicy, woody rose with some oakmoss. It's definitely got a dated '80s feel.

AbdesSalaam Attar's Milano Caffe today. I love his scents for their richness and complexity, but they disappear pretty quickly from the skin -- maybe an hour before something becomes a skin scent. They also seem a bit more volatile than synthetic compositions. My sample of Milano Caffe seems doesn't have the chocolate and coffee notes I think I smelled a month or two ago, although it's still a delicious morning fragrance. Lots of spice.

I'm trying out Creed Viking. It is not good. The top has a sharp note not unlike the one found in Dior Sauvage that I find very off-putting. The scent dries down to something designer-y and forgettable. Not worth Basenotes split prices, never mind the retail price.

Wearing the same thing this evening. This one to me starts boozy, like rum cake; but that burns off rather quickly leaving espresso and patch. Good stuff.
