Xeryus Rouge (Givenchy) today. Hadn't worn this one in AGES but was given a bottle not long ago. Boring, fruity, and a little dark. I could see wearing this in the evening in spring/summer when I want something dull and that won't raise eyebrows.

It's got that "blended" synthetic style where no one element comes through, and it all feels rather muted. I like something that I can trace, something that develops in surprising/interesting ways. This one just feels a little meh.

Annick Menardo, who I generally like as a "nose," made this one, though it seems he played it awfully safe. Nevertheless, there is just that HINT of something dark in it that perhaps shows he tried to twist it just a tad.

I hadn't tried the reformed one... though the Givenchy has no spice to speak of. It's quite "smooth," almost like a more boring recent version of Ungaro III. Less sweet, more fruit, but slightly dark, and quite smooth.

It's not a BAD scent... it's just not got that character I tend to like in my fragrances. Nothing that jumps out and makes you take notice. Just sort of flat.

L'Eau d'Hiver by EdP Frederic Malle today. A soft floral (heliotrope I find out) and a sharpish green topnote (it smelled vetiverish to me). Base is a vaguely woody vanilla, but the vanilla is on the light side. So all in all a nice fresh soft understated floral with a relaxed vibe. I could see wearing this to the beach or something. Kind of a "On Vacation" feel. Too bad I am in my office at work!

Have a good weekend everyone

CdR is wonderful; one of the classic leathers. It and tabac blond are perhaps my two favorite "classic" leathers.
