Xerjoff Mefisto, which I bought blind from Jomashop after reading that it smells a lot like Creed Silver Mountain Water, one of my favorite scents that has been reformulated apparently for the worse. I was not disappointed. Mefisto really does smell like SMW, with some more citrus at the top. I'm looking forward to wearing it more when the weather warms up.

Many years ago when I started to take an interest in whisky my first love were the big Islays. I wanted my single malts to be peaty, smoky, salty and with lots of tar. Through the years I've drifted more and more towards a little more subtle flavours. I still do love my Ardbegs, but on rare occasions. I generally prefer a great highland, speyside, or maybe one of the stellar japanese or taiwanese whiskies.

My love for perfume is not as old as my love for whisky, but I get the feeling that I'm on a similar path. When I first got in to fragrances I fell for the weird and unusual. Again, I still love my Yatagan, Bat, Kouros, Norne, Lampblack, Carnal Flower, L'air d'un desert marocain etc. But it feels like I gravitate more and more towards fragrances that smells ...nice. A well made and high quality citrus, an easygoing fougère, a relaxed chypre.

When I tried to remember the scents that I've worn for the last couple of weeks most of them fall into this category. Guerlain's Vetiver, Pour un homme, New York, Moustache, Monsieur Balmain, Italian Bergamot, L'Eau d'hiver, Déclaration edt etc.

I recently got hold of a vintage bottle of Aramis Tuscany per Uomo. It's not original, but it smells very, very nice. The most easygoing of fougères. You can smell it all day without ever being tired of it. That's an underrated quality I think.

Brother night. Usj. Smells like a sour rotten hot dog, that someone forgot after the cookout. Nauseating. Avoid.

Sounds like something I’d be into actually. I have a sample that I haven’t smelled yet.

I know what you mean by this. I have been doing the same thing and wearing New York Intense and Heritage a lot. I don’t include LDDM in the same category as those other more challenging scents. I find it pretty easy to wear.

Christian Dior Cuir Cannage

My favorite leather and another from Dior's exclusive line that I was lucky to find just as they decided to restrict its distribution to Paris.
