Yeah, when I realized how limited the selection was there I realized that I'm going to have to order them online. I need a new pair of boots ASAP, but I don't want to compromise on getting the right pair for me because of the time it will take to make them and ship them to me.

I'm definitely going the online route - I just want to order them ASAP.

Have they stopped offering narrow widths? I can't find any information about them anywhere. Plus, nungar still hasn't responded to my e-mail. Am I too late for this?

This might be a lost call but I've been checking eBay and have had no luck so I figured I would try in this thread..

Is anyone here interested in selling me their R.M. boots?!?! I'm a U.S. 8.5D which seems to be the problem. None out there..!

Or are there?

Anyone? PM?

I'd really hate to do a "am looking for" thread in the B&S section just for this.

My wife's Yard boots have rubber soles, and they're glued, screwed, and stitched: the toughest combo available (according to the RMW site, anyway). Still no response from RMW to my frequent emails (and now, fax): their customer service sucks. I'm about done with them: I've found a local bootmaker to to make bespoke wholecut Chelsea boots for me.

What do you expect? They specialize in bootmaking, not customer service. If they specialize in customer service the boots would probably suck.

Ha! Yeah, probably quite right. The funny thing is that the CS was really quite extraordinary the first time I dealt with them, and now it's like they don't exist.

My Forum Special Model boots (in black calf) just arrived today. I used Sator's sizing guide and they are a perfect fit. Hats off to him and everyone else who helped bring RMW wholecut chelsea boots to my very appreciative feet.

Will leather soles be completely useless for Toronto winters (snow, slush, salt, etc...)?

And are the Turnouts with the leather sole any less sleek than the Craftsman with a composite sole?

To order the Comfort Craftsman from Nungar will cost ~$315 AUS with shipping, but I'm tempted to order the Turnouts from Shoemart to save me ~$100...but they only seem to have leather soles.

I think you will want a rubber sole. Shoemart has been posting the Wentworth, which is a rubber-soled version of the Turnout. I picked up a pair.

Completely. But your boots will be in fine shape to pass on to your next of kin, because a few steps outside on an icy day and you'll be dead from head trauma. Assuming you've got remarkable balance and manage to survive the icy days, your feet will be quickly soaked because the leather won't be water-resistant, and the salt will beat all hell out of it, too...

For winter, it's oiled-kip all the way, un-sleek as it is. When Steve from Nungar finally gets back to me, I'll know when my Tambos in oiled-kip with the heavy-duty treaded sole will be here; in time for winter, I hope.

You may well not know that, unfortunately, at least if you're in the U.S. Steve's a good guy, and he can give you an ETA on his receipt and mailing to you. But he does not control customs, etc., which can be a nightmare. Steve shipped me a pair in late June that is still somewhere out there in customs limbo.

Steve does seem to be a good guy. But he's pretty well dropped off the radar since I received my boots, looking great save that they had the (trauma-inducing) composition soles rather than the treaded. He told me to send them back (and Canada Post's tracking has indicated that they're "out for delivery" in Oz for the last two days) but he hasn't let me know when they'll be re-soled or if another pair will have to be made.

They (and my wife's Yards) came really quickly once they were made. Quite a delay there, but that's completely out of Steve's hands.

Forgive my ignorance, but are the composition soles inappropriate for winter use too?
