I recently got a new laptop and visited the forum before installing any ad blockers and was shocked at how rampant the ads on this forum are. It felt incredibly gross and made it virtually unreadable. If you were a new visitor to SF trying to decide if you should stick around, the ads would be a massive turn off.

And if less people had adblockers, they’d probably need to run less ads to cover the same impressions/income ?

Not sure what kind of stuff you're into style-wise, and it's veen a few years since I was there but my shopping recs are mostly in Mitte and include: DC4, lunnettes selection, a kind of guise, firmament, trueffelschwein, burg & schild, 14oz, Andreas murkudis, Townes

Also, frank leder is based in charlottenburg, but not sure if the showroom is open to the public.

I could probly dig up some good recs too if you need

There was a vegan sex shop run by an American that I visited with a girl I met while on vacation there in 2014. It was not far from Mustafa's.

I see banner ads mid-thread every 4 posts now. Increasing overall ad impressions per visitor isn’t the best monetization strategy for a website with a shrinking active user base.

Then again, these bespoke Western shirts ain’t paying for themselves ?

definitely andreas murkudis- really great selection. das neue black on mulackstrasse has good vintage yohji, rick etc. our legacy boutique in mitte maybe.

its not really a shopping city tho, people make their own style more.

Speaking for us and our little NoMan community, we've seen a real transfer of content and activity from our thread to our slack. A lot more fit pics, a lot more product discussion and feels more "live". Everything is easier, it's more mobile-friendly and it's more suited for short interactions. It also feels less public than SF where 90% of the users never post a word but intensely lurk (and then go mock on reddit or whatever lol).

On Slack? So, does that mean Slack users are joining a bunch of external Slack channels for vendors like you? Sounds like a UX nightmare to be honest.

Do you mind expanding on this a bit more? I'm curious how Discord and Slack are being used for marketing and consumer engagement. I've only used them for their original purposes - gaming and collaboration at work respectively.

Me, too! A girl in one of my classes gave me the greatest compliment today. She said, "Mark, you look like a Wes Anderson character today. I love it."

On a related random note, I really want a casentino overshirt.
Really? I never would have guessed.

It might be easier for you to join and see? Slack is specifically designed to handle multiple “workspaces” and it feels like smooth UX to me so I’m not sure why you think it would be a nightmare.

We wanted a place that is a little more private (you have to join to participate so people posting don’t feel like they’re exposed to a ton of lurkers and google searches) and more interactive (because of slack notifications). We picked Slack over discord because so many professionals (a big part of our user base) is already on it - so it’s just adding a workspace. it’s also free for everyone so downside is 0
