Some time back I posted a question about getting water stains out of my grain Chelsea 11s. I just wanted to post an update on what worked.

one local shoe repair place went into a long explanation of how using some kind of expensive oxygen treatment would be necessary. The staff at another suggested wetting a tissue so it’s just slightly damp and lying it over the stain. Once the tissue dries, repeat until it’s lifted the whole stain out (or until there’s no more improvement). Fortunately for me that worked like a charm.

Thank you to those of you who replied with suggestions!

I finally heard from Thomas. The MTO price was sensible ($937.54 delivered to USA with exchange). I went with Chelsea 5 boot, black black milled calf 8.5E on single leather sole. I would assume delivery will happen in about 12 weeks. I like the quality standards of C&J and consider their shoes a relatively good value.
I don’t think it will be 12 weeks, probably closer to 9. Happy this worked out for you while I’m a shoe collector with many different brands. I think in terms of quality control and all the different options that you have for MTO - along with a sensible price point when compared to EG and JL - C&J is my favorite.

Are

Am curious to know. Are you getting these updates by email because your one of the ones signed up to this project ?
yes, exactly, C&J promised "each customer will be given regular updates throughout the manufacturing process." This is the first time I got news

I contacted C&J this morning and was sent pictures of my hatch grain shell Islays being cut out
Lovely clicking and organising of pieces here. The hatch shell is giving a lovely matt look. I would have expected it to be more shiny though. But this could be because the lighting or camera filter.

One from last weekend. I don’t often wear my Skye III, this was the first outing with them in more than 6 months. Some of you may recall me posting about my challenges with the 335 last… odd how sometimes things fall into place, this last weekend wearing these they felt the most comfortable they have ever done. Maybe some subtle shift with my feet, maybe they weren’t swollen, maybe they were, who knows… I just know these felt more comfortable than usual!

A stunning shade on those boots.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
