Don't understand why these were discontinued, but damn they were a steal at GBP 360 from C&J. Circa May 2021.

The leather has that same C&J grain behaviour as far as pull up and colour variation goes but the print seems larger compared to my Conistons.

There is something with RL and C&J where they can't make them other than for RL. I have the MTO ones but I'm not sure if that's the only way now.

Does anyone know anything about the Hastings model (apparently made for Purdey)? Appears to be a mini-lug soled shortwing brogue derby somewhere between the Pembroke and Exmoor in terms of styling. Have only seen it in roughout suede. Any info on last or pictures would be much appreciated!

Would be interested in a Radnor GMTO. I asked when I was in London if it was possible to do 2 different leathers and they said it is.

It would be great in Russian Grain.

Hi all,

Does C&J often run a sale around this time of year? If so, anyone have info on timing and details from years past at least?
The sale is now live on their website. I couldn’t see it this morning but it’s up now. Some interesting offerings. Tan golf grain, truffle Angus grain, Radnor in a rust scotch grain.

For 1 of the leathers. I'd like to do a 2 leather option just to make it GMTO worthy. I was also thinking calf and shell.

Doing Russian Grain on the bottom and green shell on the top would be cool but that's just in my head as of now.
I've been thinking of a way to do two-tone boots with green shell cordovan for a while. Best I could come up with was black Russian grain on the bottom, and a grain green shell up top. However, I always second-guess that thought because of the next part of my opinion.

Because, and this is just my opinion, if you're doing shell as part of mixed-media on boots it's better to do shell on the lower part than the upper. Patina is half the fun of shell, and having it on the upper where it feels stiffer isn't always desirable. That's just my take though.

I was thinking the Russian Grain with green shell and brass eyelets/hooks. Most likely Dainite studded because I find it more comfortable than ridgeway. I'd also switch out Russian Grain for hatch shell. That'd be just as cool in my opinion.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
