I agree with you on taste, to me it’s workable level of cosplay, some of the faithful Japanese repo is just waay too much for me,
I agree, the faithful reproductions can be really tough to pull off.
Ps side note Is it my imagination? Why do I feel the 2008 low straight have wider leg opening than current (or even going back 5 years ago?)
I think you're right; they've been making the Low Straight a little slimmer all around in recent years. They don't fit over boots as well as they used to.

Curious that all our approaches are different.

I haven't bought anything in a while because nothing has called to me. The last item was the Indigo Jaquard shirt.

I've been moving towards both repro (Buzz Rickson, Olderbest) and more approachable brands (e.g. Wrangler). I bought Bryceland's P13 cargo pants over RRL because it just looks and feels better. I've even bought a few Polo items.

Maybe the new year will be different.

My problem with the faithful repo stuff is you have to go through things to find what works for me/you, at least for me RRL is almost everything coherent that mostly just works.

I think the faithful repo’s biggest problem for me is huge sleeve (and CM with some low armhole on the 80/90s stuff too) , I think I’m ok with more relaxed bodies but huge sleeve make things looks funky to me

I was looking at Bryceland’s western shirt earlier actually, but decided to go for RRL int the end, forgot why but thought RRL looked better, must be button point?

I agree on the Wrangler. I tend to find more Polo pieces attracting me than RRL, but then I've always trended Ivy. The line is cheaper, too.

Pretty sure western wear and workwear go hand in hand. But that is splitting hairs lol

Not necessarily. Western wear historically is a slimmer fit to keep the rider with less drag on passing trees and branches, and also to be able to handle a rope easier. Workwear is generally made to be worn on top of an under layer, has more pockets for tools, and typically has a boxier fit in general.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
