They look exactly like Cavalry (precisely Burgundy Cavalry Calf).
You are not correct, I misspoke when I called them Burgundy Calvary Calf...they are antique mahogany hand grade calf....I just called the NYC C&J store - it was explained to me....Calvary Calf is a corrected leather, C&J uses it in quite a few models, but the hand grade calf, which is what I have, is softer, and comes from a younger calf...hand grade calf, is different from calvary calf...

They don’t look anything like cavalry because they’re not.
You are correct - I called C&J in NYC and confirmed...calvary calf is different from hand grade calf...

Sorry that I created confusion....from the C&J website:

This is what I have.....
ANTIQUE CALF - "Our Antique Calf shoes are made from an exclusive selection of small European calf skins, with exceptionally fine grain. This leather is aniline dyed to bring out the full character of the leather, and each pair is hand polished in our factory. The perfect leather for an elegant dress shoe." (when I bought these, they did some custom burnishing for me)

This is what I don't have....
CAVALRY CALF - "A strong calf leather with special treatment on the surface to give it a highly polished finish. Popular with the fashion industry, this leather works equally well with leather soles for dress shoes and chunky rubber soles for more casual wear."

Here is the page with all the different types of leather: https://us.crockettandjones.com/pages/material-guide

Cavalry calf sounds like that garbage Allen Edmonds was selling called Technohorse.

I’m glad so many here don’t like shell, that leaves more for me and the shell crew.

Thanks for the explanation, I just looked at their website and thought that among the different options it should be the Burgundy Cavalry Calf (although the colour looks pretty much darker). I did not consider the MTO option.

By the way, as I also said in a previous comment, I really like those shoes.

I agree....once they were bought out by private equity several years ago, the quality of their shoes took a hit, twice a year they run a 40% off sale - which speaks to quality...
