I get where you’re coming from, although on my Pembrokes, the toecap leather is stretched to the point that the grain is barely visible, which lessens the impact. It's a sickness, isn't it? It's always „one more boot, but that's the last one!“.
Minus the ones I'll be selling, I'm down to 12 boots which cover all seasons and colours. 6 C&Js for year round, 5 Tricker's for autumn and winter and the Rannoch for the ice age and the upcoming zombie apocalypse.
I got an occasion on a Marron Burford some months, which I couldn't resist as it has always been an unfulfilled wish, but other than that my last purchase was the Chestnut Milled Calf Coniston in December.
... still I want the new Donegal in Walnut Hatch Grain.
The Islay is a king!
I'm with you as the Scotch Grain pattern is so 'wow' by itself, it does not need additional support. I feel this more so with the Tan, on the Dark Brown SG the contrast of the brogueing is lessened and with that it works more as an ornamentation than like a competing pattern.
12 is a great number of boots. Any more just becomes stressful.
