they look great, is that the color out of the box or did you shine them before wear?
According to C&J the 363 last (eg Lonsdale) is supposed to have a snugger fitting heel with reduced heel slippage. I have both Lonsdale and Belgrave (same last as Audley) but I’m not sure to feel any material difference, both are great fitting lasts.

Original colour.

I almost forgot I have them - PRL by C&J, made on the 325 last. Currently my only pair of cordovan shoes but I'm thinking about getting myself another pair, this time of penny loafers.

@DorianGreen , my experience with large, roomy heels in English shoes is similar. At the moment I found only one maker who uses a last offering a large, comfortable toe box with a narrow heel at the same time - Vass Budapesters (BP last).
I have a similar pair. Think it’s called Cigar the shade of Cordovan on mine. Mine have loads of colour variation on the panels. Yours look great, nice and even! It’s a lovely make-up! Enjoy!

Another rookie question and by no means I wish to piss off anybody here but why isn’t there any buzz on shell Harlech which looks splendid on the 341 last compared to, say, a Coniston on 325 Or 375 ?
Ok, I'll bite 😁

Found these whiskey Harlechs in my size over the holidays at the NYC Madison shop while shopping for black oxfords (picked those up as well)

I couldn't help but buy them...It was too tempting.

Hi, two questions about soles:
1. Are the leather soles on Cordovan shoes the same as mainline? Or are they thicker or oak-bark tanned?
2. Is it possible to get hold of heel replacements for the City sole? Replacing it with a different design looks a bit odd.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
