Would anyone be able to tell me if VSC or Chamberlain’s Leather Milk are ok products to use for C&J grain? So far I’ve only used Saphir to a very small degree but I have heard it can remove the burnishing from the boots and do not want to lose that look for as long as I can.

I've used Saphir Nappa cream with no ill effects. The VSC, while I can't prove it because I have never taken before/after photos, seems to have darkened the leather of my shoes/boots.

That said, I do like VSC. I mostly use it on chromexcel leather shoes & boots, or stuff I don't mind discoloring.

Just a quick question - I thought all C&J shoes are supposed to be Goodyear welted - but I picked up a pair for basically nothing on ebay recently, where the vibram soles seem to be glued - at least, there is no sign of stitching on the sole, which I think will always be there on a GY welted shoe, right?

There is stitching on the top - but the cobbler I took them to said this is a "mock welt". Do C&J make mock welts? Is it possible that this is a GY welted shoe that has somehow had a different sole glued on? If so can this be rectified by removing the sole and Are they fakes?
I asked C&J this very question. The outer sole and midsole are glued, but there is a welt stitched to the insole. They are still repairable.

I have three C&J boots built on these soles, and whilst I like the comfort I am not particularly delighted that they are not truly Goodyear welted.

Cemented rubber sole over a stitched midsole is a very common construction and nothing to worry about.

I agree, it’s seen across all makers and has been used for many years. I just don’t like the idea. But, yes, nothing to worry about.

It's the only way you can put on these sort of soles. You can't this thick of rubber soles, or if you did so, it would defeat the purpose of having them in the first place (to be extremely rugged and enduring).

Sorry, these are ******* fire, bro. Vibram gumlite sole makes them even more comfy, too.

those look great, trying to decide between these and the grizedale for a good, do all 'travel' boot- e.g for quick trips away with hand luggage and you only need one boot for all terrain comfy walking and then pub resturants in evening.

Rough out suede is definitely more on the casual side compared to the Ross. As an all rounder I think Ross would be better or Snowdon even better.

Has anyone obtained replacement laces for their Marlow shell cordovan Ralph Lauren men's C&J shoes? Mine snapped so I inquired via the Ralph Lauren online chat and the representative suggested I contact one of the stores (despite the order being an online one). I can't pin down how they are different, but I like those laces more than other ones I've seen/purchased.
