Picked up the last available pair of these (in my size) on Jermyn St last week.

Have to say the C&J marketing pictures drew me in for these, I pretty much live in navy chinos/jeans during the week and thought the below combination in their photo looked great:

I should have added a special mention to one of the ladies working in the smaller C&J store on Jermyn St who is always helpful but particularly on this occasion running backwards and forwards (twice!) between the two shops so I could try on different sizes of both Boston and Harvard. Experiences like these are what makes in-person (as opposed online) shopping unbeatable sometimes.

Thank you so much to all who contributed and provided their valuable feedback in this thread. It not only helped me learn about this brand and their products but so much more.

Well,
I went to the store at the Burlington Arcade this weekend and ended up with completely different shoe than I had planned earlier.

It is the Connaught 2 in Dark Oak Suede on the 379 last.
The Junior manager there was kind enough to suggest this last as its a new one taking care of the slimmer heels.
He was himself wearing the shoe and was quite happy with it apparently.
My other shortlist was Harvard 2 ie unlined dark brown suede loafer.
However, as I own the Dark brown Crawfords I thought Ill prioritise Connaught 2 and maybe look at the latter maybe next spring.

I also did pick up the Kew. They offered me a second pair which apparently had some creasing at the top of heel hence could not meet retail sale criteria of the company.
They offered a discount of 145£ on the pair.
Its a bit snug at the widest part of my feet however they said that it should open up as the leather is quite soft in handgrade.

Afterthoughts,
Am happy with my purchases but just wondering if Connaught 2’s are a bit too formal in today’s day and age.
Happy to receive comments.

For my next purchase I do have black crawfords (Grantham’s didnt fit that well in the heel) which fit like a charm (363 last) and harvard 2 on the list.

£145 off hand grade is a steal. You'll put more creases in those boots during the first full day of wear! Enjoy them all.

Dear boot lovers,

Upper Shoes has a special version of a derby boot, the "Birmingham" in black and burgundy calf. I looks comparable to the "Perth", but with different leathers:

Best regards

I really like the black with the grain - if only they weren’t on a v-lite which ruins it for me.

I like the v-lite sole for its ruggedness for really bad weather with snow, mudd and rain. Also hicking would be possible with them.

Kind regards

Pascal

These beauties just showed up. They're a tad loose but slightly thicker socks should do the trick being I didn't plan on wearing them sockless anyway. Got em for a great deal can't complain

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
