Thanks. I will do that. I dry clean shirts and the shrinkage allowances are unnecessary for me. I think what might have happened is that the shirt eventually shrinks after 5+ washes but I don’t wash them in the machine (except of course that first time which I was requested to do so).
Dry cleaning shirts is a good way to wear them out quickly. Most dry cleaners offer “shirt service” which is conventional washing in water. Maybe that’s what you’re getting?

Personally I’ve been washing my own shirts, in hot or warm water depending on color, for decades, and PC shirts for more than ten years. Always line dry. Ironing takes time but that’s what playlists and wine are for…

Hi all;

Love the spread of the soft roma spread, not a fan of the height - doesn't really sit well on my neck. Should I go with the soft president spread or cutaway? I hate showing collar points so I would rather take the taller collar if the soft president points aren't long enough. I'm a 54L so there's a large gap to cover.

Managed to get some photos of the offending soft roma button down collar and the strange way it's sagging on my neck. Anyone got a diagnosis? Diameter too large? Too tall and I should go with ivy BD instead?

Cheers!

@Seph now that the summer sale has passed, when can we expect a bunch of new additions to the custom shirt fabrics?
Pretty much all summer styles are live now - but probably some back in stocks will happen yet. New Fall styles (lots of flannels, plaids, low-twists and more) sill start coming online in August. All Season shirt styles are always coming. Latest stuff is at the top here: https://propercloth.com/shop/shirts?sort=new and here https://propercloth.com/fabrics

Is there a way to get an inexpensive muslin or trial suit to start with for a custom size suit? I'm a very large size that isn't standard, and I'm worried that it would be a waste doing one in a suiting fabric right away.
You could try a home try-on jacket https://propercloth.com/home-try-on

@Seph, I request that you cease doing business with DHL (hereto after referred to as DHELL) as your carrier for deliveries. I have an order that went out early from you (great job!), but now seems to be in repeated failure from DHL for delivery. It was scheduled for delivery yesterday morning, but by 8:45 pm declared that no delivery would be made. Then again today they rescheduled for delivery by 3:30 pm, but here we are at 6:40 and no delivery. DHELL has stated that they will "escalate" after two failed non-attempts for delivery, so if it doesn't come today, I will have them do that. At this point, I don't have confidence that DHELL can actually make a delivery on a given day, and I probably have to file a lost package claim if delivery fails by tomorrow as well.

Update: well, at least they did actually deliver today after complaints

I've had one irritating experience with DHL but I can say that they've done better by me than all of the other major carriers. They're also loads cheaper for delivering internationally. I can only imagine the kind of costs and inconvenience we'd be looking at if they switched to anyone else. I'm glad they got your delivery to you though.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
