I've noticed my hair is a little thinner on top, although nobody else does because it's not noticeable just by looking at it, because I've always had very thick hair. Most of my hair loss has happened up front with a receding hairline, especially in the temples. Neither that nor general diffusion are treatable by Rogaine (well, diffusion could be but it'd be a hell of a mess).

I cut mine into fourths since the pills are small enough where trying to cut them into fifths isn't really worth it.

By generic Propecia are you referring to Proscar or something else? I just want to know what I should be requesting from my doc.

It's easy to detect side effects that aren't really there if you're over-analyzing everything. Most of it's all in the mind.

Obviously I, like everyone else, are most concerned about this, but I'll probably end up visiting my GP and getting a prescription, that sounds like the route to go. Plus I'm familiar with him and he's on my insurance so I don't have to worry about that whole thing.

Thanks for the great advice, I really appreciate it.

Right, I don't think I have lost enough hair around my crown for it to even be noticeable (and that's if I've even lost any around there at all), so Rogaine really isn't for me.

It's actually finasteride. That's the active ingredient that makes Propecia effective. Just ask him for a prescription for generic fin, take it to WalMart, let them know you want the generic kind and you should be good to go. Like I said, the pills are 5mg each. You only need 1mg for fin to be effective (more is probably overkill), so you can stretch a one-month supply into four months.

Also, trust me on this: don't wait until the hair is really noticeable. It's a fact that by time you're actually able to see hair loss, you've already lost quite a bit. Depending on how important hair is to you, this is one area where it isn't awful to be overly proactive instead of reactive. I've always had a high hairline, but I started to get a bit thin at the hairline about two years ago after I dropped Propecia for a while. My current regiment (going on nine months) seems to have halted any further loss, even if I don't really think I've experienced any visible regrowth. I'm glad I stopped the loss (for now), but wish I had been more proactive about it sooner.

Yeah I'll probably call my doc sometime in the next week to set up an appointment.

Another question I've had, but if I'm traveling abroad or across state lines do you know what the legality is behind that?

Also do you know what the incident rate is of actually regrowing hair on Finasteride?

Side effects in a whopping 2% of people that disappear once you stop using it.

Kind of

They just couldn't claim it could regrow hair in the front because studies were inconclusive when it hit the market. Since then studies have shown that it does.

Really? Because I've never heard that before. So I can just cover my forehead in Rogaine?

I've traveled with fin and liquid minox and had no issues with airport security.

For something like Finpecia which has no immediate and obvious effect (versus say generic Viagra which obviously does or does not work within an hour) I would be willing to bet the quality of any of the Propecia or generics like Finpecia is very dubious.

I'm confident with what I've purchased online, and I have a biomedical background. Due diligence is required. Although if Walmart really has 3mo proscar for $10 that sounds like a fine deal. It's easier for me to order from overseas than waste a physicians time and stand in line at Walmart.

Propecia medicine for Diereses like Loss the Hair Women. Its symptoms is If hair is thinning in a predictable pattern, then it is a case of male-pattern baldness. If this is the case, then the man will experience thinning at the temples followed by more loss on the top of the head.

Does anybody know if the Propecia patent still applies in the UK? IE can you get generic finesteride on rx in the UK?

I ask because when I asked my GP about Propecia a few years back, it cost a lot of money for what it is! About £75 month if I remember correctly!

Meh going to my doc might be too expensive because of my damn deductible so it might as well just be cheaper ordering it online. What experiences has anyone had that has ordered it online? Is it legit or suspect as someone earlier in the thread stated?

Specifically referring to ordering from here:
http://www.inhousepharmacy.biz/mens-.../finpecia.html

Who has tried Finpecia? Who has ordered from this website before?

That site is legit, as is the product, use it.

One thing to be aware of though. They say it will take 2 weeks to reach the US. It's always been 3. That said, everything else is smooth.

Also shop around for a pill box/receptical to put them in. You dont want to fool with that little foil packet every morning. I have a small Chinese tea cup I put a bunch in and leave it out near my supplements.

You make it sound like finasteride is guaranteed to cause all of these problems. These side effects occur in less than 2% of males who take finasteride. I've been on it for 5 years now - balding has been permanently halted and have experienced zero negative side effects.

Ok sorry, it wont regrow, but it will halt further frontal loss. Still a reason to use it there if you are losing some in that area.

http://www.frontal-hair-loss.com/

Minoxidil

For the longest time minoxidil was thought to be ineffective as a treatment for frontal hair loss. However, a 2003 manufacturer's study revealed that Rogaine (the brand name of minoxidil) was effective in treating frontal hair loss. However, as we indicated in the hair loss region map above, do not confuse the frontal hair growth claims with causing new hair to grow in the temple region as it will not grow new hair in the temple area.
