What is PMW?

"Poor Man's Watch". It's another watch-related thread on SF, where the timepieces discussed have a max value of 1,000$. I'm not sure how the 1K threshold got agreed upon, but it makes sense to me.

You said "it's another watch-related thread on SF" and I just jokingly pointed out we're having this discussion in PMW :)

Oh, my bad! I thought I was posting the TWAT! :embar:

Got myself a vintage Certina Argonaut 220 from 1968 for 200€. Runs well and keeps good time but the automatic winding doesn't seem to do a perfect job. It tends to stop during the night when it isn't worn. Any idea why this might be? Too little oil? Worn out main spring? Spring barrel full of gunk? The movement is very clean on the outside. It doesn't bother me enough to have it serviced as I can get around it giving it a wind before going to bed.

Very cool looking Argonaut! I have zero professional knowledge but it sounds like something wrong with the spring that is causing to lose its reserve too quickly or never actually getting a full wind in the first place.

It is in my opinion not in accordance with the essence of this thread. Would you post your RL sweaters for sale in the RL thread? Wouldn't every thread then be filled with random listings which would interrupt the discussions? If you want to profile them, just put them in your signature.

That makes sense. Thanks for the response!
