Interesting stuff.
At first blush it seems a trade off - a traditional GMT is easy to set up but needs manual adjustment (at least of the hour hand) when you change time zones. Yours seems like a real fanny on to set up starting off but then self adjusts on its own as you move zones.
Still always good to see creative approaches. Some will catch on and become more mainstream, others will fall by the wayside but time cannot stand still (see what I did there?😁)

Unlike GPS-sync watches, radio-sync watches require manually turning the crown if I move to a different time zone.

A shortcoming of radio watches is that a radio tower is quite costly (NIST's 2025 budget is nearly $1.5m USD) and can be subject to budget cuts and shut-downs. The US government tried to shut down all NIST time signals in 2019, but the proposed budget cut was ignored by the Congress. If WWVB is going to be shut down in the future, then we will have to use the likes of Clock Wave app to sync the watch.

Many newer radio watches have dual modes, allowing the user to choose whether to tower-sync or to Bluetooth sync (to a smart phone). It will be convenient if the tower is down or the tower signal is spoofed.😃

Since retirement seems that I only strap on a watch when I have a doctors appointment.

That's it! Thank you. These are always rubber?
I've only seen them in rubber, silicone, plastic, etc. If I remember correctly, they were intended for hot, humid environments, (thus the "tropic" designation) so they were in materials that wouldn't rot, rather than leather or fabric.
