Have you tried this? I've never been given the opportunity (as someone that does not accept returns as a policy) to do a partial refund, it's all or nothing if you go through the ebay system from my experience.
I actually just did this yesterday. I was on the phone with ebay to process a return, they walked me through it and my fvf were not affected.
The reason I phoned in as opposed to just doing it online was because of the fvf, but I was able to do it on my own with them just walking me through the process.
I don't offer returns, however the buyer still had the option to submit a return, and I could either accept or deny. This was for an item that did not fit, as opposed to a INAD.

I suggest you go through their CS where you request for a call from them, they should be able to walk you through it. Did it yesterday night ~8:30pm PT and actually got a CS rep based here in the US.

You can accept a return for any reason and get your FVF back, but you can't refund less than the full product amount.

Unfortunately I have to disagree. Any partial refund on a return, even withholding original postage results in loss of the FVF. Below is a current return I have open.

With no deduction.includes fee credit

With 10% deduction, seller loses fVF credit and has to pay out $3 more. View attachment 2273049
But when you refund, also partially, you get partially the fees back… strange with you

Following my frustrating transaction with a jerk of a buyer, he's now offering the shoes again for 2.5x the price he eventually paid to me with not a hint of the remarks he used for his SNAD claim: https://www.vinted.nl/items/5307625698-santoni-leren-veterschoen-maat-10-44

Ugh, I should never have offered him a partial refund and support this negative behavior. I don't really care about the money, but I'm pretty sure he's feeling strengthened in his newfound business model.

Anybody run into issues where an item is in limbo on the ebay app?

I received an offer over 2 hours ago that I accepted, but it still hasn't gone through

Item still shows available. When I go to ebay (both app and website), it shows new offer, but then I click through and it shows that it's awaiting payment.

No idea how to deal with this and it's throwing off my timing - I could have packed and shipped the item before I left today if it instantly accepted.

EDIT: reached out the buyer and he's confirming that it shows offer accepted, but he's unable to check out.

Very strange

Update (and maybe you all knew this)

When i accepted an offer in the past, it would mark the item as sold, then the buyer would pay and we'd be on our way.

I contacted ebay - apparently this is an update that if you accept an offer, it doesn't end the listing until the buyer has paid. This means that somebody else could also come in with an offer, or even BIN to supersede the original offer.

The buyer is responsible to go into their "my ebay" and check out. In my case, the buyer was waiting for the alert that he won the item before he paid.

As a buyer I really dislike it when a seller lists an item 'fits as ...'. Much rather I'd see the size listed on the label and then the actual measurements, so you did the right thing.

It knocks my world if people list for example Filson items or Santoni shoes as a larger size, with me already aware that brand's sizing is off. People returning for size when the chest/shoulder/length measurements are included goes beyond me.

Indeed. In my experience most buyers (except the StyFo sartorial types) really have no idea what their measurements are, and go purely by the label. So I list all three: tagged size (also photographed), measurements and my own assessment of the fit. With suits and sport coats, I will also typically note if there are shoulder pads, and if so, what thickness, as those have the effect of making the sleeves fit shorter than the measured size. I also call out when sleeves are longer or shorter than expected for the tagged size, and whether the waist size is slim, regular or portly. And any other pertinent aspect of the piece and its fit. Doesn't take long.

Although I hate to invoke Murphy's Law on it, since I started doing that ten years ago I have had far fewer returns for fit.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
