Here’s a new one.

He bought this NEW tie in June and has had it for 29 days, and has presumably been wearing it. He Left positive feedback upon receiving it "I like it a lot. Quality item. Negotiated shipping for free".

I run a sale 29 days later and he sends a message that he wants a partial refund or he will return it. And then he did end up opening a return just before midnight.

Wow. That is some next level douchebaggery. Thanks for sharing so he won't be bothering any of us from now on.

Been a long time since I’ve had to deal with a return request. What’s the latest guidance on approach for returns? It was a $400 suit sale, buyer selected doesn’t fit, and asked if they can return for a fee, proposed maybe a $75 restock fee plus they will pay return shipping. Sounds reasonable to me, but I’m not sure how that would fall into the return options on my end to charge a restock fee?

The offer of a restock fee is nice, not sure how you do that though, ebay won't offer you the option during the return. If you think it's an easy resale, I'd take it.

I don’t know how easy of a sale it’ll be, it took a while to move at that price to be honest. Wish there was an easy way to setup that restock fee option, but I can’t find one… frustrating.

You should be able to offer a partial refund quite easily. You just have to manually deduct the restocking fee when you enter the partial refund amount. Because it is a return, the fvf are fully credited back.
It's when you offer a partial refund and NOT have the item returned that the fvf are kept by ebay.

Unfortunately I have to disagree. Any partial refund on a return, even withholding original postage results in loss of the FVF. Below is a current return I have open.

With no deduction.includes fee credit

With 10% deduction, seller loses fVF credit and has to pay out $3 more. IMG_7800.jpeg

Have you tried this? I've never been given the opportunity (as someone that does not accept returns as a policy) to do a partial refund, it's all or nothing if you go through the ebay system from my experience.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
