Here's another from my enormous pile of Alpinas, a Seastrong titanium diver. I love the look of this thing, but it's a bulky bugger and it goes with almost nothing in my wardrobe.

You can also guess at how rarely I wear it, since I just noticed the date is two days out.
Where have you been with this?
I’ve been banging on for ages about my fantasy vacation watch - a diver with a GMT function and a subtle 24 hour scale on the rehaut so it doesn’t clutter up the dial. The only other feature I’d like is a day as if you’re doing your vacation right you should occasionally forget what day it is.

Are these still available or some limited edition from the distant past? Any other colours?

It's still current. 2020 catalogue, I'm guessing, as Alpina sent it to me new around last Oct/Nov. It's available on the Alpina site with bezels in orange, blue or grey, and I also see a red bezel on eBay (with a slightly different model number, so I'm not 100% certain it's part of the same range). I'm seeing the orange bezel available new on eBay from $300 right now.

Working slowly but surely through the neglected Alpina collection. This one is an Alpiner 4 auto that just survived a hour long walk to the bank at -35C. The skin on my exposed hands, not so much.

I just read some of the articles about this watch. The NOS case and the dedication to making a watch appropriate for that time period are fascinating. Enjoy!
Enjoying this one today.

That is a real beauty. Well done.
I love Christopher Ward. No better bang for the buck in the watch world as far as I am concerned. And they are adventurous is their design aesthetic, without being too avant-garde. And given their (relative) affordability, I wear them without being overly concerned. They are well represented in my collection.

Well, it's 3:30am here and I just impulse-bought a Helson bronze watch. We'll see in a few days if I love it or regret it.

Bought it directly from Helson. Wondering if I'll get hit with customs fee. I've bought many watches from Japan & Switzerland and have never had customs charges.

Something like this...

I’ve bought quite a few watches directly from Helson over the years and have never been hit with any import fees or duties. Fingers crossed that you should be safe from that as well. ?

Thanks. It's my first CW, and I definitely was not disappointed. They really did a great job in creating a watch with the actual super compressor technology, and I'm a huge fan of the case lines and polishing as well as the dial, domed crystal, handset, indices, etc. It's really well done.
