Well, just ordered a 2 pack (two Mod 1 speakers) for testing purposes. If I like, will probably be used throughout the new house.

Do you care more about looks or sound?

Sound / cost = value. That's my major equation. From everything I can read, these speakers are a pretty good answer to that equation. Not only that, 30 day money back trial, upgradeable, and nice and tiny.

I used to have them. They look good, but sound is alright. Don't expect anything special out of them.

Are you looking to put speakers throughout the house, or just in certain areas? If it's just certain areas, you might consider higher end bookshelf speakers. There are some really fantastic very small bookshelf speakers put out by a number of different companies. If it's just for background music spending 2k/pair might be overkill though... Still i'd argue that it's very work going to a high-end audio retailer and listening to some gear. It could change your world.

To echo audiophilia's point, Gallo makes good gear, but I've honestly never heard of Orb audio. That they are being compared to Bose doesn't really inspire much confidence. To make an analogy, it's like that wine competition an Ontario vineyard just won... :p Then again, I haven't been paying much attention recently, so maybe they are good...

I should say to my drinking buddy (via lots of wine and martinis!), that I have never heard Orb. I'm sure they are fine. But Anthony Gallo is a serious designer and a nice guy. The trickle down from their Ref Series is significant.

Let us know how you like the orbs, Pio.

Cheers, a

Those do look like Gallo knockoffs. Which doesn't make them bad. I've been strangely impressed with what comes out of Gallo speakers.

I have heard the Gallo but not the Orb. The Gallos sound terrific. I see Anthony at the shows. Nice guy.
