Prima prova with Trouser-maker Marco Cerrato in NYC. Very pleased with the experience, and great guy.

Don’t know. Always have thought tailoring should be taught like music theory. This guy comes closest to teaching this way. He has a good, thorough, in depth method here. Some of his ideas are contrary to my ideas based on my experience so discernment is required.
Lots of people have participated in making a jacket following these videos. Issue with learning anything is not having the knowledge or experience to realize what’s wrong or should be different and changed from what you did. Or knowing how to correct something. Even watching these videos without knowledge or experience, you don’t know what to look for or can actualize what your seeing with any meaning. That’s when feed back from a maestro is needed.
As you mature in anything you see things in more detail and realize the subtle differences.
For myself, the goal is improving my skills and not just proving my skills.

No I didn’t request anything too different from his typical style. Does it look wider to you?
It does, and I prefer it this way.

Did you specifically request not his usual narrow silhouette?
Have you ever ordered from Marco?

Relative to other Neapolitan tailors, he cuts fuller through the quads/thighs/hips. But not hammer pants you get from okey.

I was hesitant because the pics I saw look like very narrow in the legs.

I wish we had such artisans in the Bay Area. Maybe we do. About 25
years ago I had some pants made by a no-name tailor who was recommnded
by the alterations tailor at one of the better men's shops, now closed. The tailor
retired soon after. The pants ran about $300/ per at the time and except for having to increase the waist to conform with my aging body, they still look good.

Marco does go to LA usually when he makes the trip to NYC from Naples if you are interested.

That was probably when I could go to McDonald’s and get a meal for 5 bucks. Now it’s more like 20.

well, if you want hammer pents, okey has you covered.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
