Did anyone go?

For those who could not make it, vox is currently but not-really live tweeting the event from his ipad. It's very gracious of him.

Any mention of when the dvd will be available for sale?

Also, and more importantly, did the Foo show?

I thought yfyf was supposed to be there too. I hope to pick up the DVD from the Armoury. A 6pm is show way too early for me to make.

G, you were there? You should have said hello. I was standing next to Jason when the panel discussion started. I was in a grey three piece with a grey tie.

Also, The Armoury is the exclusive retailer of the DVD, we will be putting up the page in the next few days, the DVD will be delivered in time for Christmas.

Yah, I was there, toward the front near gdl and Jasonmarshalljazz. I was the one who asked the question afterward about how or whether the meaning of wearing this stuff changes over time when fewer people wear custom clothing, or can afford to. The dir didn't quite answer it, but it provoked some good discussion.

Boyer was seated near me, next to a dude in a tank top. O tempora, o mores, etc.

I wish I had been able to like the doc more. They edited it down to the minimum length of a feature these days -- about 65 minutes -- but it still dragged, because it had no structure. You get a lot of superb photography of Naples and tailors' ateliers, and portraits of various personalities, but nothing really organizes the film. Things it could have done visually include show, rather than sideways describe, the history of the cut, or show how a suit is made. We get bits of these things but only bits.

After the screening, met various bloggers/industry types. People from Gilt Men, Isaia, Rugby, Bastian, as well as yfuf whom I must thank for the drinks.

Later that eve, caught Garbo: The Spy a doc about a WWII Spanish double agent who, working for the British, helped persuade the Germans that the Normandy invasion was not the main event. It, too, had a complex historical/cultural subject, but did it with a great deal of thought as to how moving pictures illustrate a point or tell a story.

That was what you were asking? I think some people misinterpreted it as - it's expensive, why? The discussion was pretty good, would have been nice to get a few more questions and grapple with the topics more but Prof. Albertini did a good job keeping it short and sweet, I think.

Ack ... I waited at the entryway since 5 to say hello to whoever wanted to chat but I had to run around a bit to help organize.

Maybe I should have been more direct. I know how many hours go into a suit, and I know how few tailors today work at this level, but what I was wanting to know is how the cultural position of Neapolitan bespoke changes over generations when what was once the province of the many becomes the province of the few.

But the discussion went elsewhere.

I was there in the back left. I think I was the second person to show up at the place. My office is close so I walked right after work. I thought I recognized your outfit, but I don't know the Style Forum code so I couldn't inquire.
