No idea about the chukkas.

Here's another colorway option I came up with. Strange how something I thought was hideous two days ago is already growing on me. Of course they could look like crap IRL.

part of me wishes I had a reason to buy more workout gear (like this jacket--what is?)

I end up cycling through the same two dri fit long sleeves and two pairs of shorts hitting the gym 2x a week lately. usually just wear tees/shorts for rowing

You could always try, you know, working out more...

Unfortunately the color options on the KB's are all pretty ugly with exception of navy. I saw some expensive sneakers on yoox I believe that had paint literally thrown on in a Pollock fashion, uber ugly but I think I'll be ok with this (subtle?) faux-graffiti look.

Pretty sure paint splatter MMMs >>>>> anything you could possibly make in Nile id.

Just ordered these bad boys...don't think I've ever been this excited for a pair of shoes before.

Had no idea they were MMMs, but a gimmick gone wrong imo and any number of Nike shoes are better than that joke. Obviously MMM's serious sneakers are beyond Nike's reach.

I don't think they are comparable since the MMMs are luxury sneakers, while the Kobes are functional ones. I'm sure if you wear the MMMs to ball, your chance of rolling your ankle(s) is quite higher.

I haven't bought a pair of luxury sneakers in a while, but those Margielas will be next. I am sure I will like them as much as my painted MMMs, which are my fav sneakers including the Nikes and Jordans.

Since we're on the topic of gimmicks, Nike is the king for that. They use any silly back stories to produce colorways to hype them up, ie the Meteor for KD's line because that was what he wanted to be aside from playing professionally or the '81 point' Kobes that had folks go on a scavenger hunt around L.A. to collect stamps for a chance to be entered to get a pair.

I also think that they are milking Kobe's return too. The Kobe 9 is supposed to be revealed in December (a lot of noise being made whether it will still be a low or not because of his torn Achilles), but the current Kobe 8 will be around for the second Xmas colorway.

The Kobe shoe line itself is impressive though, performance wise. Very comfy and long lasting. I still have the 4 that I bought when it first came out...aside from fading traction, the shoes are holding up extremely well.

I would buy those birdshit margielas if I could find them at a good sale price (0).

wj4,

When you say painted MMM's, are you referring to the birdshit ones or are there others?

Why does anyone want to look like they have birdshit on their shoes?

What's next, people buy jeans with shitstains on the back?

Forgot to say I'd never use fashion sneakers to play sports in, the only reason I'm comparing Nikes to fashion is because the Kobe 8s were so comfortable I want to use them for regular streetwear. I'm too old to wear uncomfortable shoes no matter how fashionable.

It's a silly item...kinda like the 'blob' shirt from Jil, I think.

This is the painted pair I got years ago: http://cf4.thefancy.com/default/217734161_8c4ad2ecfa64.jpg

I find the MMM GAT to be pretty comfortable, though not as much as performance oriented shoes like the Kobes. The MMM Mids on the other hand is not too comfy for me.

You can use fashion sneakers to play ball in, but I would be weary. I believe Gilbert Arenas balled in YSL, Gucci, etc. several years ago.

I'm sure the Kobe 8s would look great with tapered sweats and jogger pants. As far as basketball shoes go, this and the KD 6 are probably the more 'low profile' balling sneakers, as opposed to the more bulky ones like Lebron's.
