Looking for a moderately priced waterproof boot. Something that looks good no timberland style. Cole Haan did a chelsea last season that I liked but can't seem to find anything like it right now. Anyone have any ideas? Looking for somethig that goes with jeans or a boot i can throw on with dress pants/suits for when i'm walking around.

What sort of boot? IIRC there is an RM Williams chelsea that is welted for water resistance. The Grenson Ilkley boots I have are storm welted; no water seeps in unless you stick your foot in a puddle and it gets in through the holes for the laces.

Consider a pair of overshoes to slip over your regular shoes, or get a pair of rubber wellies.

I have been told by the makers and representatives of a few different companies that the storm welt does nothing for resisting water and is only there for the looks. Is this the case for all shoes made by everyone?

Works fine for my Grensons. As far as I can tell, no water makes it inside unless my foot is submerged.
