For $27, I figure it's worth a try.

Are you sure you got the selvage jeans?
All I see are the colored wash ones for 44.99 on the Canadian Gap website.

The newer ones don't fade, but they make great dark jeans.

these are def. the older gap selvage. The older ones were *** denim, now its chinese. blah.
still isnt bad for the price point, though. after my first pair ripped at the outseam i only use these are dressy jeans. im planning on wearing them to a casual wedding tomorrow and starching the **** out of them before i go. perhaps this will change things up. doubt it will make me drop my n&f skguys....

I don't know if anyone can answer this, but what the hell...

I bought a pair of straight fit ridged selvage jeans from gap back in 2007. I still have the tag, they're described as "slightly loose leg, straight leg opening".

Has the straight fit cut changed in the past few years? They seem to be marketed as a slimmer fit now.

Can't speak on the 2007 offering, but the current straight fit is not loose at all.

Yes, all of Gap's denim fits have changed since 2007. That's why this thread is called "New gap denim."

Patrick Robinson created all new cuts for men and women starting around 2008/2009 with their 1969 jeans collection.

It doesn't have to be selvedge, what I really care about is the overall fit.
authentic was my cut. gap straight is too narrow, and standard doesn't fit right even going down 2 sizes in the waist. after much looking i found lucky brand 361 vintage straight, and am very happy. no fancy, or loud back pocket embellishments and has a fit similar to the gap authentic. give them a try. if only lucky made a button fly version they'd be perfect.

Thanks for the rec. Levi's 501 is another possibility; their current cut has a high rise while the thigh and leg are decently slim.

Can someone tell me the difference between their straight and standard fits?

Which has more room in the thigh?

Did you look at the Gap website? (Hint: There's a reason why the jean fit gallery is arranged the way it is)

That's actually fairly impressive impressive. Pretty serious ass tear though. Did you wear them particularly hard or is the denim just kinda fragile?
