Most appropriate way to fix this hole in my trousers?

I have a pair of RL trousers that I love and noticed that the fabric where the button are sewn on the back pockets has worn out. I removed the buttons and noticed that the weave is pulled/torn.

What would be the most appropriate way of repairing this?

Clearly it would now need to be reinforced but I’m wondering what a tailor can do. And if someone can recommend one in NYC.

I think the repair will likely be simple because it will be hidden by a button and the front of the pocket. Could oversew the defect with a piece of reinforcing fabric on the inner side of the fabric.
