I always want to say something to the waiter as well about that if it is a nice restaurant. They should know better.vodka martinis are not the original drink. that's why you have to order them as 'vodka martini'. and it's why i'm always mildly (but not visibly) perturbed when waiters and bartenders want to know whether i want gin or vodka. if you just say 'martini', it's gin.
yeah, i know. but by now it's happened so often that i simply order 'martini, gin, olive', just to avoid the back-and-forth or a possible screwup where they serve me vodka. They should know better.
Described as "sublimely fresh with depth and complex flavor and a mouth-feel that can only be described as unctuous," Tanqueray No. Ten is highlighted by flavors of grapefruit, orange and lime and mellowed by juniper and chamomile.

Is a true manhattan meant to be served in a high ball or a tall glass?Let's see...
If I'm in a classic sort of mood I like a Rob Roy (Scotch, sweet vermouth, bitters) in the winter, and maybe a vodka martini in the summer. Â
Most of the time in the summer though it's a mandarin Cosmopolitan. Â In the winter the fun drinks are the Girl Scout "Martini" (vodka, clearcreme de cacao, clear creme de menthe), or a Bardto (vodka, chambord, cranberry juice, champagne and a ring of sugar around the rim).
My only pet peeve is getting these drinks served to me on ice in a high ball glass. Â Each of them is meant to be up tall.
Mmmmm, booze.

A quick look at a bartending book says that either is fine. I'm just snotty and like it up.Is a true manhattan meant to be served in a high ball or a tall glass?
As do I.I think a martini glass is the most traditional for a manhatten.

I'm not really a martini fan, but I like it better in gin and tonic, so you might want to give it a shot. Plus its totally unctuous.Described as "sublimely fresh with depth and complex flavor and a mouth-feel that can only be described as unctuous," Tanqueray No. Ten is highlighted by flavors of grapefruit, orange and lime and mellowed by juniper and chamomile.
