Umm...these are made by Buzz Rickson. Nothing to do with Bills Khakis.
Grailed?
Yea, I thought about them, but do they really do authentication? Seems like a B&S/ eBay kind of market (basically run by users).
Would be cool if someone knew about a really good, high-end thrift shop, maybe in NYC. A place that specializes in high-end goods.
Also will be interviewing Spoo from LuxeSwap.
Jsingh emailed me the photos and I've selected a few which show that this is absolutely fake.
This is a machine-made buttonhole. And a badly made one at that. Brioni makes splendid buttonholes BY HAND
This undercollar was applied by machine, using the bottom of the barrel in terms of technique. The square corner and the zig-zag stitching are the giveaways. Brioni would have a rounded edge, the felt would lap at least 1/4" lower than the gorge seam, and it would be sewn on by hand (or at worst with an AMF machine)
The belt loops have been made on a double needle machine, and the waistband has been channel stitched to fell it, rather than using a blindstitch. Again, bottom of the construction barrel.
This suit is worth $150 at retail, brand new. Send it back to the seller. That he told you some story about its provenance suggests he knows what he's selling is fake.
Sorry.
I have a good friend who's worked in high end vintage designer/couture for years. He may be wiling to talk to you.
