I think that's the point..... the Dharma , flash-sideways, original timeline.... The running theme still seems to be "what happens happens"... so in the FS, the more things seem different, the more they are converging to become the same. Farraday got to be a rock star like he always wanted... but he's still got the knowledge of a physicist? Desmond got Widmore's approval, but he's going to squander it for Penny. I think the big reveal will be that the alternate time line and the original time line get them to exactly the same place in the end.

I don't think it's that hokey... I think the concept of "true love" is more the calvanistic idea that there is something that was "meant to be" and the flashes of the women they love in the real time line is what will push them to the convergence point.

I think the Lost story is going to end with most of them staying in the sideway universe, with the exception of Jack who will take over for Jacob and continues his struggle with Lock.

Maybe I shouldn't comment, having missed about half the episodes in between this season and the first season--but...wha? Jack has a fricken kid in the other "sideways" universe. If that's how it goes, I'm pretty sure it ain't gonna be him.

Follows my "what happened happened" theory.... In either reality, Locke has to die before the convergence.
