Has anyone got a pair of Loake Hydes ?
How do you lace yours ? I've done straight bar lacing but i find it so difficult loosening the laces so that i can get my feet in and out ?

Would a criss cross style with first level as straight bar be more suitable for those boots instead ?
I tend to wear them with chinos or wool trousers in a smart/casual look instead of jeans.

I feel your pain. It can be difficult. I use this pattern https://www.fieggen.com/shoelace/straighteuropeanlacing.htm

but I end it one hole from the top and then just cross over for the last hole. That way I can pull the laces out through the last hole and loosen the lower holes. It works but it's still not as easy as some other boots.

you could add speed hooks to the top few holes if it's really a problem.
