As long as we're confessing our various heresies: I think a blue shirt might work nicely and keep you from being too monochromatic. A lighter chambray will seem odd, though -- try a medium blue. I like a nice spread collar, no buttondown.

Gray wool trousers are virtually always a good choice.

Black linen is for club kids and hipsters. If you are one of those, get it. If not, don't.

Somewhere on the forum there is a photo of sartorial hero Mariano Rubinacci wearing a black linen suit and he looked horrible. Homer nods.

Thanks for the tip.
Thankfully fall is only a month off and I have three new SF approved coats being altered as we speak.
Soon I can bury this black linen and pretend that it never happened

At least one of the SF gods made the same mistake!

It was admitted that a black linen SC is not ideal, and not typically SF approved within in the original post. Thus I expected a snarky and or sarcastic post or two. As mentioned, I was not sure if serious because a white T with a SC is typically also frowned upon round these parts.

Thanks for your feedback.

Say you were cursed with a black linen Sc, how would you wear it when not taking photos?

All I said was that the collar shouldn't be a button down.
