I’m not the most frequent poster here, but I visit the forum a few times a week.
Perhaps I’m mistaken, or merely suffering from a run of bad luck, but lately I’ve found that, when I arrive here, before navigating to one of the sections that speak to my interests (e.g. Classic Menswear), the latest posts are predominantly not about matters sartorial.
I'm here for discussions of clothing brands, fit, what constitutes style, sartorial trends or traditions, where to shop, great instances of thrifting... and of course those conversations and observations can still be found.
But increasingly they seem to share space with a ton of stuff about politics - World War III and Donald Trump bulk large, as does the future of the Republican Party - along with coffee, cars, wine, whisky, Elon Musk, TV shows, running, and the perils of social media. (At the risk of sounding fusty or curmudgeonly, aren’t there other places for all those things?)
Then there’s the ever-growing inundation of spam, astroturf, bot-generated gibberish and mysterious blandishments, which the admins on the whole remove promptly... but which keep coming back like weeds.
Or am I deluding myself. Maybe 'twas ever thus?
Grumble over.
