Some things I've worn that I think work well for a "non-aggressive" leather jacket look:

Valstarino. Good with jeans, chinos, and tailored trousers. IMO, best in suede.

I love a good suede jacket and especially the look of the Valstarino except for those pleated and flapped pockets. The pockets give way too much added volume of material in the least flattering area possible, the belly. Simple angled "****" pockets give a much leaner mid-section. Even the simple angled pockets of a Baracutta style jacket are a better option IMO.

That jacket was the first time I saw a picture of him and thought "I didn't realize Simon was fat...OHHHHHH."

I've not had the advantage of trying on a Valstarino, though I've always wanted some rendition of one. Ralph Lauren makes a nice one (no pocket pleats) and so does MooRer.

That said, they do look off on more than a few who wear them, especially as they do with middle buttons buttoned and the rest unbuttoned, accentuating the bagginess at bottom even further. I like Valstarino most on clothes hangers; people wearing them tend to ruin the look for me, and they look awfully slim just below the chest for that style and with those pockets.

That said, I like the look of Compton's Valstarino, at least at the angles he photos with it. He wears it much better than others, though I think his is fleece lined or something which gives it a more volumous look all around. He is a narrow shouldered guy and that coupled with that style of pockets can be off putting, most exemplified perhaps in his Stoffa fit:

That said he does wear his RLPL suede very well, certainly one of his nicer jackets:

It works for him. Love that RLPL. And the pockets are about as flattering as front pockets with flaps are going to get.

A bomber jacket's natural silhouette is already a bit rounded though. Some companies, like APC, make slim fitting bombers where the body isn't so rounded, but the jacket is already somewhat "widening" because it's a shorter silhouette.

I agree that the flapped, pleated pockets only add to this effect, but IMO it would also be a different style if you did slash pockets. Brooks Brothers makes stuff like that -- shorter body, turned down collar, and then slash pockets. The effect is more of a "racing style" jacket to my eye than a bomber. It makes the style a little more conservative/ CM-y (not a knock).

Personally don't like how that Stoffa is styled. The body is naturally more rounded than most bombers, but (I know I harp on this) jackets always look so much better when they're worn open and none more so than that Stoffa.

Found an OG (MRS zippers) suede jacket for sale.. think it's 2005? Should I kop for $1,400? It's more than 10 years old, does suede get funky?
