It’s funny how I’ve been into fashion for this long and have made that mistake enough times, yet I still get in this kind of debacle.
I mean it’s not the worst thing in the world to have two nice leather jackets right?
My friend, you’re talking to someone who currently owns nine leather jackets, a leather vest bag (which is kind of like a jacket), and is eyeing another piece from Carol Christian Poell.
I have a FCL Leon custom and an Iron Heart Black Battle Edition moto jacket that I haven’t worn in a while but refuse to sell because I love them. That said, I did let go of my 3sixteen x Schott rough-out suede jacket. I liked it, but it always ended up being the last thing I’d reach for.
In my opinion, having a few high-quality leather pieces is a great thing, as long as you’re intentional with your purchases. For example, I wouldn’t consider a brand that doesn’t align with my style, which leans heavily toward avant-garde or darkwear.
The mistake, I think, is buying item A instead of item B just because item A is slightly cheaper or a bit different. This often leads to regret, as you’ll end up looking back and wondering what could’ve been with item B.
IMHO I do not think this mistake is worth making once you get to a certain inflection point between happiness and cost.
