It’s funny how I’ve been into fashion for this long and have made that mistake enough times, yet I still get in this kind of debacle.

I mean it’s not the worst thing in the world to have two nice leather jackets right?

My friend, you’re talking to someone who currently owns nine leather jackets, a leather vest bag (which is kind of like a jacket), and is eyeing another piece from Carol Christian Poell.

I have a FCL Leon custom and an Iron Heart Black Battle Edition moto jacket that I haven’t worn in a while but refuse to sell because I love them. That said, I did let go of my 3sixteen x Schott rough-out suede jacket. I liked it, but it always ended up being the last thing I’d reach for.

In my opinion, having a few high-quality leather pieces is a great thing, as long as you’re intentional with your purchases. For example, I wouldn’t consider a brand that doesn’t align with my style, which leans heavily toward avant-garde or darkwear.

The mistake, I think, is buying item A instead of item B just because item A is slightly cheaper or a bit different. This often leads to regret, as you’ll end up looking back and wondering what could’ve been with item B.

IMHO I do not think this mistake is worth making once you get to a certain inflection point between happiness and cost.

An aside, I like RRL, but after handling their leather jackets today - which are made in India - there's not much difference in going with something like 5 Star. You probably get better quality from the latter.

But no brand story.

I don't have any RRL leather piece so far, but thanks for the note, I have a "kind like type 3" James Grose suede trucker, only thing is it doesn't have inner pocket (none of the James Grose do, which is a dumb design idea for me...), and it's not contrasting collar

for reference, this is Barbanera Ennio

Not limited to leather jackets specifically but I LOVE an inner pocket. It needs to at least hold my phone. I have some cool jackets that I simply find myself wearing less because they lack pockets or they are way too tiny. Rick Owens and Ann Demeulemeester always have this locked down. I can throw my phone, wallet, keys, safety beanie, and food in one inside pocket of my Ann jackets... and there's two of them.

I don't get the negativity. My experience was excellent. I did stick with goat which seems to be their best material. I'll keep using them.
In my limited experience, The Fedora Lounge leans a little too hard toward bitchy cosplayers. When they decide they dislike something, they dislike it intensely and forever.

so what shoe/boot do you guys wear...?
Here's where I can irritate some other people.
On the rare occasion I suit up, I go with wingtips, which I know is not by the book but cap toes bore me a little bit.
Other than that, I wear almost everything except chukkas and penny loafers.
Chelsea boots, lace ups, split toe derbies.
I have many pairs of Archibald sneakers in different colors.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
