A “Shacket ” so to speakIsn't an overshirt also called a "shirt jacket"? Basically a jacket with a shirt collar, cuffs and sleeve plackets, etc.

Length seems fine, it’s a long coat by design….what is the issue? I think once you shorten the sleeves you are all set.Hey guys, I just got the beautiful Parisian coat from @PenguinGuy4 (thanks again!)
I absolutely love it and the fabric is beautiful but just wanted to get everyone’s thoughts on the fit. It feels like it fits great everywhere except for the overall length and sleeve length. I’m on the shorter side (5’7”) and I feel like it looks like it swallows me up.
Any thoughts here? Also, if I do decide to shorten it, anything I should note to the tailor as to not ruin the jacket? I know to not take off too much as I don’t want the placement of the pockets and buttons to look off.

As someone not too much taller, I tend to get the same feeling in longer coats, and generally stick to coats that end around knee height. Shortening the sleeves to the correct length can make a big difference. It's a little hard to judge the overall fit with the cuff so long on you because that alone makes it look too big. Maybe if you roll them up or or under to the right length, it will give a better sense of the rest of the fit.Hey guys, I just got the beautiful Parisian coat from @PenguinGuy4 (thanks again!)

I agree completely with this. While an amazing coat, it does appear to swallow you whole. As someone not too much taller, I tend to get the same feeling in longer coats, and generally stick to coats that end around knee height. I would be very careful about shortening the overall coat lenght though, as it can mess with the intended look significantly.
The coat is meant to be oversized/generous. I would say shorten the sleeves and wear with chunkier knits underneath and I imagine it would look better proportioned and styled. Definitely nothing wrong with a coat going past the knees.Hey guys, I just got the beautiful Parisian coat from @PenguinGuy4 (thanks again!)

They look like Paraboot Elevage to me. Tried getting a pair a while back but I couldn't find a stockist in the US.Does anybody know the name of those black boots the model is always wearing on the DBF site?
I agree. The coat looks one size too large all around. Although, I'd have to see it worn over a chunky sweater and buttoned up first. Sometimes, when less tall guys wear something oversized, it just makes them look shorter. Plus, I think the visual balance of the coat will look off if the sleeves are shortened and end at the pockets. It'll make the rest of the coat look huge.I'll be the contrarian and say… I would size down.
I agree. The coat comes just past the knees in the selfies posted by @Donut above. Similar to these:The coat is meant to be oversized/generous. If it was me, I would beat it on down the line and grab one of their wool overshirts. Gawd do I love mine. I get it is a completely different look, but they kick arse and will work for your proportions.
Living somewhere tropical, the chances to wear it are seldom, but thankfully at elevation, can rock it occasionally.
The sweater definately helps fill out the top and complete the look. It's a fatastic coat, but candidly I'm not looking at the photo and thinking that this is an outstanding fit on you. I know you already own it, but it might be a useful experement to try on a size down to see how it compares before you commit to alterations on this one. Thanks for all the replies guys, really helpful to hear everyone’s opinion.
Here’s another pic with a chunky knit as requested (I was wearing a pretty thin polo in the original).

Still on the fence a bit as I kind of agree with every opinion so far, but maybe it’s just a matter of getting used to the voluminous nature of it. The sleeves definitely should get shortened a bit though. I think that’ll clean it up.
