This is a thread in which you introduce yourself, regulars and new members alike. This is one thread I'd like to keep reasonably civil and reasonably clean, so, let's do that, okay?

I'll start. I'm Fok, one of the adminstrators on the forum. I have a bunch of kids and live in Idaho. If anyone told me any of the above 6 years ago, I would have wanted whatever they were smoking.

I wear jeans 24/7 - mostly Triple Works and RRL, and otherwise, have a lot of belts and overpriced Italian made sneakers. I mix up Wings+Horns, RRL, Jil Sander, Margiela, Haversack, Woolrich Woolen Mills, and SNS Herning,

Hope that you guys have a good time on the forum.

Cheers,

Fok.
Just saying hello. This forum has been a valuable resource since I'm relatively new to the game. I prowl the thrifts, salvation and goodwill, for luxury clothes with great feeling fabrics, mostly shirts, well used and under $10. Clothes that feel really good to wear. I get a lot of info about the makers here, since I never heard of barely any of them. Keep talking, folks!

Hello everyone,

I am 25 years old who finally has decided to improve. One of those areas of improvement is in my clothing. I have basically been wearing the same clothing for the past seven years without much change. One of my major goals is finding my style.

Thank you.
Hello inetxenon, glad to hear of your zest for improving. Onwards & upwards. Welcome!

Everyone I’m super stoked to be on this forum. I’m drawn less to brand and more towards fit, quality and materials. For example, this summer gap had a major linen sale and I picked up probably 20 100% linen shirts and some chore coats which I modified and just dyed one from khaki to black. Some current things I’m really digging are
- RRL neckerchiefs
- Guanabana belts
- Eddie Bauer mountaineering boots
- Anything 100% linen
- Oversized cargo pants
- Clarks Wallabees w/ bleached oversized NOAH jeans
- All Saints cardigans
- Schott 141

Look forward to reading and participating in ideas.

Hi kcfaul, being drawn less to brand name recognition & more towards quality, fit & materials is a major step in the right direction & towards finding one’s own personal style. Welcome!

Good morning Fok,

I retired last year after 40 years of nurturing denim and developing washes on every substrate imaginable. I do miss it. I moved from Los Angeles to South Dakota, where I bought a vintage 104-year-old fixer-upper. I love vintage!! I would love to interact with anyone interested in distressed apparel. Denim has always been my expertise, yet all fabrics can be distressed, including synthetics. 100% cotton is naturally the best material for distressing.
Hi jeanpro54, yours is an interesting story. Welcome!

Hi everyone,

I've lurked the odd thread here before, but recently started my account while searching for a grail piece: the OG grey herringbone Permanent Style x Private White Donegal Overcoat. I've been a stay-at-home dad the past few years, so my style went pretty functional/utilitarian after leaving the office behind (jeans, white tee, flannel, gore-tex jacket). Recently I've been missing some of the panache that dressing a bit nicer allowed, so slowly adding some of that back in but still staying pretty functional with a sort of rugged, heritage menswear bent. I'm also a sucker for anything tweed.

Cheers!
I just joined looking for the same coat. Any luck finding it or tips on where to look? Is the checking the styleforum buy/sell daily the best bet? Is there any alert function?

Hello! I just joined this forum after spending the past few years using r/malefashionadvice for info about clothing. I've also hear about this forum a bunch from dieworkwear so I'm excited to see what I can learn from everyone else.
Here are a few topics that I'm interested in:
-Heritage clothing brands (Le Tricoteur, O'Connell's, Heimat-Textil, Left Field NYC, Grownandsewn, Carrier Company, Viberg, Redwing Boots, William Lennon, etc.)
-Workwear
-Duck canvas carpenter pants (Carhartt my beloved)
-Wool sweaters

Greetings! I started lurking on StyleForum sometime in the early 2000s, pre-kids & pre-wife; I fell out of the routine but I'm glad to be back! I am a Catholic school teacher who loves hunting for great clothes at thrift stores. I love art, Charvet tie, watching soccer, and appreciate HiFi stereo gear. I'm also not afraid of embarrassing myself with the occasional dad joke.

Hi Gorzow_75, you need lurk no more. Your interests are eccletic & apparently you have a good sense of humor. Both traits are valuable assets in my estimation. Welcome!
